Blink have yet again tried to reprise their title of punk gods. California (Deluxe) dropped last week with some potential chart hitting tracks. Considering there were only about 6 new songs on this album (not including the singles) their ‘Dude Ranch’ and ‘Neighbourhoods’ influences bleed through heavily. I'm not saying this is a bad thing at all.Apparently ‘Last Train Home’ was only in early production stages when “California” was released. I know the majority of you would've liked it or have stayed that way. Hardcore fans are rejoicing after Skiba looks to have found Delonges’ “Angels and Airwaves” effects pedals. The loop stays consistently throughout the most part of the track and makes a nice addition to the new age punk album.Although the lyric content is not only repetitive and sometimes lost in the mix, it still makes for an incredibly catchy and robust tune. Barkers drums seem to compliment Skiba's guitar work much better than in previous songs.Personally this was one of my top picks on the new album, a good entry point to the punk pop genre. Recent news leads us to believe that Delonge may step back from his UFO ventures and eventually make a return to Blink-182 until then check out this track and 6/8 for some wicked new Blink -182.
