Windwaker // EP Review

The release of Windwaker’s debut EP “Fade” has been a long time coming. After several line-up changes and the release of singles “Castaway” and “The Destroyer”, the boys along with producer Sonny Trulove put in the hard yards to get each of these tracks as polished as possible. There has been tremendous improvement since their 2015 demo “Knock Down // Rebuild” especially in terms of songwriting quality, vocal diversity, memorable guitar riffs, catchy melodies and deep lyrical content. Lead vocalist Will King can definitely carry a tune as he switches nimbly from cleans to screams and back again. The lyrics explore the themes of being grateful for what you have in your life (Take Me With You), dealing with regrets and lack of ambition (Castaway) and dealing with mental illness (The Destroyer). It’s a very strong release from these boys and I’m looking forward to seeing how they continue to evolve musically in the future.
