The Phosphorus Bombs // Album Review

Album: Cancers Band: The Phosphorus Bombs Location: Date of release: 27/7/17 Genre: Punk Reviewer: Byron Hall For Fans Of: Descendents

The rapscallions from The Phosphorus Bombs were kind enough to let me listen to their debut album 'Cancers' here are my words regarding the release!

After listening to 'Hitchhiker' the first song on the album I was very pleasantly surprised. I hadn't heard of these guys before and when I when I finally did I was graced by two previous EPs from the past two years which were also pretty tight. They've played with many Sydney punk bands including Skinpin and have also played with Luca Brasi.

I can honestly say that these boys may have just pulled off one of the tightest punk releases of the year, each song was an experience. I felt that as the album progressed the various influences showed, with Frenzal Rhomb-esq riffs and a Descentants drum style.

When I was nearing the final tracks on the record I felt like I was at a live gig, the atmosphere really changed. I was so stoked that there are still punk bands who care somewhat about the final listening experience, even being mixed in the US at Blasting Room Studios.

Now that I've heard this record from start to finish I'm super keen for these boys tour with some big name bands! Hard work pays off and for a punk band that's almost unheard of. Congratulations boys this was a great listen and I hope great things come to in the days after this ripper drops! It's a quality album and I'm sure we're gonna see this on the charts!

This beauty drops on the 27th of this month! In the mean time you can check out 'Hitchhiker' and 'We Remain' from this album here
