It’s been a couple of years since we heard from this Brisbane-based Progressive Melodic Rock band after releasing their 2015 album “Shields and Crowns”. Blind Love shows a distinctive change in sound whilst keeping the trademark sounds of the band in tact. There are elements of lush electronics and rhythmic basslines alongside Adam Douglas’ powerful clean vocal performance. It’s a slow building track which dips into sections of quietness and unleashing a catchy alternative sound during the chorus.
The lyrics explore the concept of not being enough in a romantic relationship and dealing with self-blame, shame, inadequacies and imperfections. The music video shows the band reflected in cool hues of blues and purples through a distorted lens with the elements of “Blind Love” being symbolized by images of wilted roses and an hourglass. The use of close-ups and extreme zoom in the video is also quite interesting and serves to connect the audience closer to the band itself.
