Song: Crystallize Band: Far Away Stables Album: Between Rage and Serenity Location: Sydney, Australia. Date of release: 04/08/17 Genre: Alternative Rock/Experimental Reviewer: Michael Dixon For Fans Of: Closure In Moscow, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Saosin
“Crystallize” is the third single to be released from this Sydney-based Alternative Rock/Experimental band’s debut album Between Rage and Serenity. However, it’s the first music video as part of a visual series to accompany the album. It depicts a man wearing a primitive looking mask in a darkened room. Filmed in black and white, the video uses a range of visual effects from blurring and pixilation to use of shadow and lyrical subtitles on the bottom of the screen. Musically, this song is very reminiscent of early Closure in Moscow with powerful melodic guitar riffs, dramatic string sections and soaring clean vocals from lead vocalist Brendan Sheargold. Lyrically, this song is about being able to let go of the demons in the past and also embracing the unknown of the future.
