Just in case you hadn’t heard, Neck Deep are back with their new album ‘The Peace and the Panic’. After releasing singles such as ‘Happy Judgement Day’, ‘Where Do We Go When We Go’ and ‘In Bloom’, The Peace and the Panic became one of the most highly anticipated albums of the year and I can personally say I am not disappointed.
The band has grown up quite a bit in the past 2 years having faced new experiences and losses that have shaped the new album and the songs seem to be very honest and soul bearing depictions of these experiences. Musically, they have stuck to the pop punk genre we know and love them for but have evolved this sound to be more melodic and uplifting. Ben’s voice has also improved quite a bit.
The single ‘In Bloom’ is an emotional track about recognizing that sometimes we aren’t okay but we need to “stop digging it up”, leave our problems in the past and try to move on from it and get better. The song starts off with a slow tempo and gradually grows and builds. It has an overall positive sound and message but also low-key gives me some old school emo Simple Plan feels and I love every second of it.
If you have somehow managed to not listen to this album yet I highly suggest you do.
