The Heart Instinct are a 5 piece Melodic Hardcore band originating from Sunbury, Victoria. Their debut EP “Disillusion” which was released back in May this year, is very much a heartfelt release. The lyrics explore the many different challenges we face in life including uncertainty of the future, putting a mask on to protect yourself from others, dealing with depressing and anxious thoughts and finding hope in tough times. Musically, this EP is really well balanced with tight energetic guitar riffs, raw screams and uplifting cleans and plenty of catchy, melodic rhythms. There are also sections of spoken-word vocals especially on the track “Everything We Are” which is really poetic and beautiful in its brutal honesty. Overall, this is a really solid and well polished EP.
