Our Anchored Hearts // BEHIND THE BAND

Newcastle progressive-metalcore hotshots Our Anchored Hearts have been busy this year, Here is a little insight into what the boys think about the scene and some other interesting shit. Seriously thought, these boys have some of the hottest merch out of late! 2018 will be "The Yeah Of OAH!"

//Can you give us a brief history of the band and releases?// It all started in 2012 by Cooper Stamp. Tirst Release was a terrible demo called world leaders back in 2014 haha- we then later went on to record release a single called Lifechanger that year which featured on first EP Eternal Empty Vessel on the 11th of September 2015. Also 2016 saw the release of Livid. and this year we released our latest single Amphetamine Ft Dane Evans and Richie Newman. Bandcamp //How did the band originate?// Back in high school we were just a group of blokes that loved heavy music and wanted to play shows. Coming from a small town there was not much to do and this was an outlet for our creativity. The end of 2014 saw us wanting to take this band business seriously. //What's the first band who made you love music?//

The main bands were like The Amity Affliction, Parkway Drive, Sworn in, Traitors and Buried in Verona definitely had a huge part in the band actually starting. But there's so many other bands over a wide range of genres that us boys all listen to that had a role in the band actually starting as well! //Who inspires you to make music now?// Bands that are willing to take the next step and work hard to live their dream, no matter the cost on their lives. There's a few to many to mention but I guess the main band at the moment that shows that kind of determination in our eyes is Alpha Wolf from Melbourne. //What are some of the most important things you have learn while being together?// No matter what never give up, strive to change the game, push to make the next show better than the last and have the most fun you can along the way possible. We are all family and we all click so well together and We feel that's super important within a band as well. //How do you view your band now as apposed to when you started?// We were all just silly kids when we first started this band, but now we have learnt a few lessons, played countless shows across the country and made a few friends along the way. We've definitely matured but we've got a long way to go! //What's your favourite venue to play?// It's a hard toss up between Bald Faced Stag or Factory Theatre. //Can you explain what goes on during the writing process?// Well since buddy joined we've been kind of been writing on stop for the last year, we generally just record our ideas and send them to each other, send/receive feedback and get them to where we like them and then pass them onto our Producer Richie Newman who kind of gives us his impressions on tracks and tells us what needs improving and what's good! //Can you explain the recording process you go through?// In the past we've pretty well recorded at Richie Newman's house or at a studio, we usually spend a week or a weekend just hanging out and recording the tracks when we feel they are ready. //What does this release mean to you?// Our previous releases were testing grounds to our capabilities, the next release is a demonstration of our collective writing ability from the feedback from our previous releases. The next release is definitely a little while away and definitely something we feel is next level, but we are definitely the most proud of what has been done so far than anything else we've ever done! //What does the scene mean to you?// The scene are our supporters and anyone that's given us any kind of support whatsoever we love so much! We couldn't be more great full that people have been stoked on what we create and we can't wait to interact with more people in the scene in the future! //If you could change one thing about the scene, what would it be?// More people coming out and checking out the mad shows that are hosted year round by incredible promoters within the scene in Australia! Other than that there's nothing that really could be changed! //What song means the most to you?// Livid, because it comes from a very low place of defeat, but the song stands is vision of the pinnacle of rage it also stands a testament to not let people drag you down and to fight. //What's your favourite song to play live?// Livid. //Why do you play music?// Music saved our lives and it's something that we would be nothing without. So of course it was the obvious choice for something for us to do with our lives! //Would you encourage people watching this to start bands?// Yes, being in a band is the most rewarding and fun you can have in your life. It's your ticket to the world! //What advice do you have for new bands?// Stop following old trends and start something new, no one wants to hear the same thing they've heard a million time before! But most importantly write something that you love as well, experiment and try new things. Don't worry about what people think! //How important is it to network with other bands?// Probably the single most important thing to do. Go to shows with friends or even alone. Go to shows where you know literally 0 bands. Talk to people at the merch desk, talk to the sound guy, talk to photographers, ask bands how they got into music/how they get shows. The more you ask the more you learn.
