‘I stumble home three nights a week, too drunk to drive, too high to sleep’ I first saw Raised As Wolves when we played on the same bill as them, I was really wasted by the time they came on but I did enjoy what I was hearing, they have a really big sound for a three piece so I was super keen to hear their latest single when it was released. The song kicks off with hard hitting drums and a nice guitar riff that reminded me of late 90’s/early 2000’s Aussie punk bands like Jebidiah and Frenzel Rhomb. The first verse breaks down with just the vocals and guitar and I really enjoyed the vocalists voice, it’s always refreshing to hear an Aussie accent coming from an Aussie band. The song keeps building and breaking down nicely, really adding in great dynamics and the guitar has some nice riffs throughout I especially like the five note run that is played! All instruments cut through nicely, the Drummer is having a hell of a good time and hits them hard and the bass has some nice runs throughout, they’ve got a really rich and deep sound together and it also comes across live which is impressive for a Three Piece. The lyrics will be instantly relatable for anyone who is getting older now and parties more than they probably should – probably why I related so much to them. The song is hell catchy as well, it mixes Punk with the catchiness of Pop and I can guarantee it will be on your Spotify playlist after one listen. Overall I enjoyed the track and am pretty keen to see what their next release will be. They are making some nice waves in the local scene as well and have some pretty impressive gigs coming up. Go and check them out live, you will not be disappointed.
