“Worthless•No Purpose” is the latest single from this four-piece Melodic Metalcore band, following the release of their Six Feet Down EP back in January this year. Structurally, this track is very similar to the band’s previous material with lots of heavy breakdowns, intense screams and uplifting cleans through the chorus. However, there are also some significant additions here including dark industrial synths, use of vocal fading and some lovely string-laden sections towards the end of the track. It’s certainty a more polished track production wise as well thanks to Ionei who is also the band’s guitarist and clean vocalist.
The biggest issue for me is the generic song structure which isn’t a bad thing but will prevent the band from evolving in the future. Lyrically however, this band is on top of their game. It focuses on the low points of dealing with mental illness including feeling like you’re not good enough, that you’re a failure and being overwhelmed by life’s pressures and other people’s expectations of you. It’s also about finding the strength inside of you to prove the nay-sayers wrong.
"I can't keep on living life like this, so sick. A million reason why you hate me might fit. Convince me why I'm worthless. Tell me again how I have no purpose"
