2017 has been a very busy year for Wicked Figures’s, playing show after show they have been continuously growing, after the release of their debut single earlier this year 'Spineless' was a massive step up for the band.

The track gradually fades in with a crisp lead guitar hook line, the guitar feels as if it is bouncing all around the listener, slowly building tension between the listener and the track. After building this tension the Band are suddenly present directly in your face, creating a sudden change in intensity which is gladly welcomed. Both guitars, bass and drums lay down the foundation for the lead Screamer to let loose and add more aggression and tension to the track.

As the track progresses the band demonstrate a great use of dynamics between section’s, i.e Intro to Verse, in doing so the band have allowed space for both harsh and clean vocals to take the spotlight, and I must say I quite enjoy the harsh vocals on this track, they aren’t overpowering any of the other instrumental elements within the song. The harsh vocals create a sense of conversation between the listener and the band, they have created a hybrid between Aburden’s spoken word verses and Bella Haven’s melodic hook lines.

This is the first track released by the band featuring clean vocals and I think it is a step in the right direction, in adding the clean vocals Wicked Figures have added an extra feature element to the track. Although it is a step in the right direction I personally would have preferred there to be only harsh vocals within the verses and then cleans in the chorus, just so that they both could have showcased more within the track.

Together as a band all of the element’s are super tight, and overall the track is mixed really well there are no elements that clashed with each other, I would have preferred the guitar part’s to be a little louder within the chorus’s especially the guitar track that is playing the octave harmony.

Wicked Figure’s have proven themselves within the scene that they can produce a hybrid of catchy melody line’s with harsh vocals, They produce the same quality live as they do on the recording, if you haven’t already checked these guys out they are not one to be missed, I’m super excited to see where they take their next release, 2018 looks to be a big year for the band.
