Fresh of the release of their debut album "Feel Something" Movements have come out all guns blazing with ‘Under The Gun’, the track is filled with raw emotion, moody melodic guitars and treble driven bass, ‘Under The Gun’ features as track number 9 and has earn’t itself a place as one of my favourite releases of 2017.

From the get go Movements created their signature ambient band sound, filling empty space with echo of of clean and distorted guitars, the track is filled with what seems to be an endless amount of energy and is sustained from the first to the very last second. This raw energy is created through the creative mix between guitars and raw vocal tone.

After establishing the tracks energy, the band drops back to only bass and vocals striping back to create a sense of vulnerability, although this was a simplistic approach it was successful in creating a sense of space allowing for the band to once again build energy for a power house chorus. Through each separate sections of the song the band have allowed room to showcase each element that the band bring to their approach of songwriting.

After listening to the track several times one section that stood out the most to me was the pre-chorus, vocalist Patrick Miranda expressing his hatred and disgust for an ex lover through the use of raw raspy vocal tone, in doing so the he conveys to the listener that their is still bad blood between these two individuals and that he has come out stronger whilst the other individual has lost all his respect. The line ‘You Had Me Hooked, Careless and Cunning, You Had Your Throne, But now Your Nothing’ is so powerful i’m unable to describe how much of an impact this has on the listener, I can see this going off at a Movements concert.

Overall the song is mixed very well, all instrumental elements blend well and nothing clashes, I personally would have preferred the lead guitar to be a little louder in the final mix, for the reasons of allowing it to showcase more and add more spice and already delightful song.

If you haven’t checked out Movements, I would Highly recommend it as it is filled with some killer tunes, if you like ‘Under The Gun’ you will love the rest of the Album, we haven’t heard Movements play their new music live in Australia yet, but I’m excited to see them when they do.
