WeDivide are a five-piece Progressive Metalcore/Djent band from Melbourne. Their debut album “R.E.R.D” is very impressive from the outset. Opening tracks 'Mandela' and 'Burning Bodies' borrow heavily from the likes of Karnivool and Front Line Assembly with bursts of frosty electronica and dark industrial beats surging through them. The lyrical content seems to focus on political corruption, personal betrayal and the downward spiral of our current society. The vocal duties are divided between lead vocalist Daniel De Jesus and guitarist/clean vocalist Daniel Keighery.

The rest of the album features a mix of harsh roaring screams, uplifting cleans, epic spacey-sounding guitar riffs, explosive breakdowns and flourishes of calming melodics. There is also a brief instrumental track called 'Mantra' which ties the two halves of the album together. There’s a few times where the band does veer dangerously close to generic metalcore territory but mostly it’s really refreshing and has enough sonic variation to keep you engaged. The album artwork by Dixon Jong (Intuitive Designs) is highly detailed and intricate with shades of black and blue geometric patterns, symbols, planets and organs. It’s very impressive and reflects the content of the album perfectly.
