“After all was done how could we be the same, after so many chances. I hope hoped you’d change. After Everything I gave, l gave you the answers. This ain’t a fucking game. You can’t just walk away, not expecting a reaction. Coz I’ve been burnt before trying to put you out, but you keep going back for more.”

Following the release of "Blind Love" and the departure of vocalist Adam Douglas in August 2017, Brisbane based Melodic Rock band Awaken I Am have just released a brand new single and enlisted a new vocalist, Jimmy Alexander. Known for his powerhouse clean vocals and emotion-filled lyrics, Jimmy (ex-vocalist of Acrasia) has made a smooth transition in joining Awaken I Am and wisely closed one door before opening another.

The new single 'Dissolution' builds on a strong electronic foundation with bold, catchy alternative-rock rhythms flowing through the track. There seems to be deeper emotional depth to the song, especially in the lyrical department about a relationship growing more and more dysfunctional and wanting to walk away and let go of it. Jimmy doesn’t try to re-create or rehash anything Adam has done in the past with the band but instead adds a fresh dynamic and brings his own unique vocal style to the fold.

The music video directed by Dustin Smith opens with that signature hour glass from the previous music videos before showing the band playing in a narrow room fitted with bright strobe lighting plus abstract bubbling-liquid and water patterns layered over the top of it. Later in the video, they use the element of fire and burning imagery to represent the end of a relationship.
