Chronoscale is the debut EP from this Melbourne-based five-piece Alternative Rock/Post-Hardcore outfit. It is the culmination of two years of hard work, being recorded back in 2015 and 2016, so it’s been a very long time coming. I suppose the upside of taking so long to write, record and release a 5 track EP is the degree of quality, time, energy and effort put into it is generally higher. Of course it could have also all gone pear-shaped during that time but thankfully that’s not the case here.

The band released their first single “Bad Me” back in early August along with a music video. This song alone really sets the tone for the whole EP…beautiful soft melodic elements combined with huge bursts of uplifting energy, lush yet compelling guitar riffs and poignant, passionate-filled clean vocals from Nico. Lyrically, the EP explores the concepts of dealing with deep emotions and feelings, mental illness, the human connection and finding love for yourself. I also really dig the darker gang vocals used at the end of “Vital” and closing track “Chronoscale”. Overall, this is a great first release and well worth the wait.
