“Home” is the third single released from this Melbourne-based Alternative Rock band. They have become the self-proclaimed “sad boys” in the local music scene and have gathered quite a following this year after releasing previous singles 'Late Night Driving' and We’re 'Not Monsters (Yet)'. What sets this band apart from many others is their punchy enthusiasm, emotional lyrics and blending of genres including emo, grunge and punk rock.

This latest single from their upcoming EP “Closing Doors” is probably their darkest and most lyrically honest track so far. The music video features the fellas chilling out on the couch when Dylan pops in a VHS tape into the VCR. We then switch to the television screen which features footage of the band playing live. The thing I really appreciate about this music video is the attention to detail with static, tracking issues and tampered effects adding a 90’s-esque feeling to the band’s aesthetic. This is a nod to Generation Y aka kids who grew up in the 90’s and early 2000’s when VCR players and MTV were all the rage.

Musically, this track has plenty of bouncy guitar riffs, laid-back melodic touches and heartfelt passionate vocal deliveries from Liam and Sale. The lyrics really hit home on the issue of finding a sense of self-worth and overcoming your mental demons. The last section of the song probably hits the hardest for me with lyrics including “Why am I like this? Trying to get my head stronger. My friends fucking hate me…Move forward keep your head up. You will find your home. Just don’t give into pain.”
