Speakeasy have hit all the marks on their new single 'Dream Boy' it's catchy, well written, well recorded and a fucking great song.

I've had my eyes on speakeasy for some time now. My first review was for the good lad Billy Punton's solo work so I was over the moon when I got the chance to listen to the track before it was released, and I'm impressed with what I heard.

The song begins with some nice chords and then the rest of the band kick in, it has a very dreamy quality to the sound, I guess that's why the title is so fitting. I love the dulling vocals that are throughout, be it the male/male or male/female vocals, it adds great dynamics and keeps the song enjoyable. The entire track is tight as hell, they know what they are doing musically and the song is crafted well, it's not a very long track which really left me wanting to hear more from the lads. This is the first of 3 singles the band are putting out! I love the guitar licks and the fact that it's not a standard verse, chorus, verse, chorus structure which adds lots of flavour to the track.

The lyrics are great also. The second verse is my favourite (read above) and I connect with it. I guess we all want to be the perfect one for the perfect someone, but reality is, it's easier said then done.

'I'm such a prick, I say what I think, I hate what I am, but I love what you do to me'

Overall the song is tight, well written and has a great sound to it. It's hard to define the genre it sits in as it really does have a dream like quality. All the instruments has nice tones to them and each instruments cuts through nicely.

I can't wait to hear more from the lads as this track really got me hooked on their sound and what may come.
