Earlier this month they released their Debut single ‘Don’t Blame Me’ and it is a banger of a tune. In the first ten seconds you are transported back to the early years of grunge music, warping the minds of the listener through distorted guitar tones, Fuzzy Warm bass sounds and raw vocals the boys have you hooked, The song opens with a short but sweet guitar intro laying down the foundations of what shortly develops into a full band outfit. Throughout the tune you can hear a massive influence from late 80’s, early 90’s outfit Nirvana, this works in the songs favour as nothing like this has been released for quite some time. Although they have chosen to follow a simplistic approach to songwriting it has ultimately worked in their favour, through the use of simplistic lyrical content they have enabled the listener the ability to quickly learn the song and sing along with the catchy Chorus melody line. Personally I can see this going off at a live gig. I would have preferred for the vocals to be louder in the final mix so that they could be showcased more, but overall all instrumental elements fit well within the final mix. Both bass and guitar tones compliment each other really well, they also gel really well with the drums, no elements of the song are fighting each other and overall are really enjoyable to listen to. In support to their release they have created a weird working class chimp themed music video, the overall storyline is lacking but who doesn't love to see a chimp in a full suit, I would highly recommend checking out their video clip on YouTube as it is one not to be missed. The Boys in Atticus Chimps have outdone themselves with this release, the song is tight, Catchy, easy listening and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for these three boy’s.
