Foreword: As our writer James had something come up at the last minute we had to find alternate arrangements. Luckily Jesse from Red Lotus offered to help us out. He wasn't able to write about Words Of Elizabeth or RL (obviously) so I have attached both of their singles below. Huge shout-out to Jesse for doing this, we will be sure to catch RL again in the future!

-MRKILL-

The day was Saturday, the heat was borderline insufferable, the hero was Oslow The Dog, our lord and saviour, who kept everyone’s spirits right where they needed to be for a memorable day of heavy music. A wise man once said “It’s called "Power Stance”; you own the universe” (Dewey Finn, School of Rock 2003), and to set the day off right, melodic metal band MRKILL took to the stage and delivered just that, power. For such a new band, they definitely proved they belonged up on the stage, with vocalist/guitarist Justin Ks’s deep growls and impressive guitar work leading the outfit to a haven of riffs and double kicks. Bassist Tony Radi kept the crowd going with his energetic performance and spinning dreadlocks, while the band debuted their recently released demo, "Valiant Amusement".

-LETTERS TO AMARA-

Pop-punk heavy-hitters Letters To Amara kept the energy coming, with vocalist Celeste cutting through the instrumentation like a finely sharpened blade. Her soaring tones were complemented beautifully by their drummer Kyle’s powerful voice and stirring screams, somehow finding time to sing his heart out while beating his drums senseless. Boasting a set of tunes that jump across genres, Letters To Amara proved they can get heavy with the best of them.

-DREAMERS CRIME-

Sydney heavy rockers Dreamers Crime brought ferocity and every drop of energy they had left to this, their third and final show of their Australia Day Weekend down in Melbourne. Playing their debut single “I Believe In You” from their first full length album “No Compromises"(which we reviewed a while back), singer Peter Repousis showcased his thunderous vocal chords, to the sound of chugging guitars and melodic choruses. Their cover of Linkin Park’s 'One Step Closer' got the crowd singing along, adding a degree of familiarity to their set.
